Basic information
Plant protection discipline is a discipline that studies the effects of plant diseases, pests, weeds, etc. on plant health and production, as well as prevention and control. Its research goal is to protect the health and production of crops and other important plants, and reduce the damage of diseases and pests to agriculture and ecosystems. This discipline plays an important role in agricultural production, which can improve crop yield and quality, reduce pesticide use, and promote the development of sustainable agriculture. In addition, it is of great significance for environmental protection and the maintenance of biodiversity.
At present, the doctoral section of this discipline includes three directions: agricultural insect and pest control, plant pathology, and agricultural product quality and safety. It mainly focuses on the identification of plant diseases and pests of major pests in the country and characteristic agricultural pests in Guizhou Province, the research on the occurrence law and damage mechanism of diseases and pests, the integrated control of diseases and pests, and the control and evaluation of agricultural product quality and safety to carry out research work.
The master's degree program includes three second-level disciplines: agricultural insect and pest control, plant pathology, and agricultural product quality and safety.
This discipline is a national “double first-class” construction discipline, with a strong faculty and research platform. There are 51 teaching and scientific research teachers, all with doctoral degrees, 26 professors and 15 associate professors, including 6 national-level talents and 15 provincial-level talents. There are 1 national-level experimental platform/team and 4 provincial-level experimental platforms/team.
Research direction
Agricultural insects and pest control: It conducts basic and applied basic and technical research on insect diversity and systematic classification, acarology and arthropod evolution, comprehensive management of agricultural and forestry pests, monitoring and prevention and control of invasive pests, and molecular mechanisms of insect biology.
Plant pathology: It conducts related research around plant pathogenology and rapid detection, plant-pathogen interaction and disease resistance utilization, microbial resource utilization and edible fungi, etc.
Agricultural product quality and safety: Based on the characteristics of the agricultural environment and the occurrence of harmful organisms in the karst mountains of Guizhou, it studies the theories, methods and laws related to quality and safety in the whole process from production to consumption and in the food chain, and reveals the relationship between the production process, environment, raw materials, and consumption links and the quality and safety of agricultural products.
